Meade, Sheridan and Verona townships. The library serves a population of 7,000
with an annual circulation of 86,000.
The library houses a collection
of 35,000 items, including monographs, large print and audio books, a local
history collection, an obituary index, VHS tapes, DVDs, music CDs, computer
games, Play Station, Play Station 2, X-Box, X-Box 360 and Nintendo 64. The
Huron Daily Tribune and Huron County census records are available for
viewing on micro-film.
Six computer stations with flat
screen monitors offer free high-speed Internet access to the public. Patrons
with their own laptops can access the library’s 24-hour wireless internet
service. The library has a children’s room with a reading pit, stuffed animals
and a large-screen TV, a reading area with leather couches and a gas fireplace,
a dedicated teen area and a meeting room available for small group use.
The library’s holdings are
accessible on two electronic catalogs. The public internet computers also allow
patrons to access MeLCat, a state-wide library inter-loan system. If you wish
to borrow a book that we do not have, we would be happy to help you place an
inter-library loan request. Instructions for using MeLCat are also available
elsewhere on this website.
