New!! Shop at our online bookstore!
September 19, 2007, Bad Axe, MI. As a way to tap into the growing online media sales market, Bad Axe Area District Library, has added an online bookshop to its services: http://badaxe.librarybookshop.net
Just like an Amazon or Barnes & Noble online media outlet, Bad Axe Library Bookshop offers online book buyers a source for book and media purchases. Over 6 million titles are available to browse and purchase. However, the Library Bookshop offers something the large outlets do not: an opportunity to support the local library through online media purchases.
The largest two online book and media sellers took in nearly $3.5 Billion in 2005. This is up nearly 18% from the previous year, and continues to trend upward. As consumers become more accustomed to searching, browsing and purchasing media online, the small community bookstores are nearly extinct. That doesn’t mean, however, that all your consumer dollars need to leave your local community as well. Instead of bucking the trend, tapping into the global online media sales will keep local dollars in town.
In addition to all the free services Bad Axe Area District Library offers such as interlibrary loan, summer reading programs, children’s story times, large print media, and services to the disabled, the library will now provide an online bookshop for those who shop for media online, and for those who also want to support the great free programs the library offers. Ten to fifteen percent of your purchases will go directly to Bad Axe Library to support its wonderful community programs and services.
The site is competitive in pricing and incentives with the larger outlets. For example, it offers free shipping for purchases of $25 or more, just like Amazon. In addition, it combines access to the same materials as the larger sites. However, Bad Axe Library Bookshop provides its customers with more personal customer service and local benefits. Your consumer dollars, for the purchases you make online anyway, will come back to Bad Axe and directly support the community’s district library. Click on this link or logo below: |
