Bad Axe Area District Library User Information

Eligibility

All residents and property owners in the Bad Axe School District are eligible to receive library cards without charge. You will need a Michigan Driver’s License or Michigan ID with your current address. Residents outside of the Bad Axe Library District may obtain a library card by paying a non-resident fee of $40 per family per year. 6-month cards may be purchased for $20.

Loan Periods

Books and audio books circulate for a period of two weeks and may be renewed by phone or internet if no one is waiting. Magazines, catalogs, music CDs, video games, computer games, videos, and DVDs circulate for 3 days. There is a fee of $1 for video games, computer games, videos and older DVDs. There is a $2 fee for new DVDs.

Reserving Materials

Books and audio books may be reserved in person, by phone, or by internet if they are not on the shelf. We do not reserve items which circulate for three days, i.e., magazines, catalogs, music CDs, games, and movies.

Overdue Fines

The overdue fee for books, audio books, music CDs, magazines, catalogs, and video & computer game booklets is 25¢ per day. Movie (VHS & DVD) and video & computer game overdue fees are $1 per day.

Copies: 10¢ per xerox^© copy; 25¢ per microfilm and computer-generated copy; 75¢ per color copy

Fax Transmission: $1 per page.

Deposit for Reinstating Revoked Card: $50

Charge for Reinstating Lost Item: $3

Interlibrary Loan

The Bad Axe Area District Library will borrow an item for you from another library if we do not own the item. Patrons may also order interlibrary loan items through MeLCat, the Michigan E Library Catalogue. Interlibrary loan books are delivered three times per week.
